The Forum – She is Back!

Due to popular demand, we’ve resurrected everybody’s favourite feature from last year’s M4K site: the forum! A place to discuss, argue, encourage, put down, and generally converse about mustaches and all things pertaining to the almighty lip carpet.

Weekly Mustache Checkpoint #1

Hats off to all the growers who have joined our ranks so far. By my estimations we’re up to 32 staches. That’s a lot of lip rugs.

Just a reminder that our first weekly checkpoint of 2006 will take place this Friday, November 17th at Irene’s Pub (885 Bank Street, just south of 5th Avenue). Hope to see you all there!

If you can’t make it for your weekly mugshot, you can email your photo to info@m4kottawa.org.

M4K on CBC Radio

[audio:https://m4kottawa.org/wp-content/themes/m4k/downloads/cbcradio_061113.mp3]

Check out the interview on CBC Radio this morning by our very own stachers Brett Tackaberry and Trevor Kealey. Trevor’s comparison of mustaches to icebergs is riveting.

If the player above doesn’t work, you can download the entire interview as an mp3.

M4K Ottawa 2006 Campaign Just Around the Corner (to Corner)!

Welcome to the 2006 edition of M4K Ottawa! We’re back on the scene with a new site (gracefully adorned by our 2005 champ, “Officer Brohman”) and renewed desire to help out those wonderful little kids that benefit from the hard working folks at the Make-A-Wish Foundation ® of Canada (Eastern Ontario chapter). For the uneducated, this is the 2nd straight year that a yet-to-be-determined number of grown men will be growing lip rugs over the course of 5 weeks to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. No, this is not a joke.

But we can’t do it without your help!   Please consider joining the campaign or making a donation (see our PayPal button on the right).

We look forward to seeing all of you on Clean Shave Day!

A new website has been launched to promote the Mustaches for Kids cause! www.mustachesforkids.org is chocked full of information and resources on the furry fundraising phenom that’s lighting the world on fire.

One of the founding fathers of the Ottawa chapter, Steve Palmer, created the site in cooperation with M4K NY‘s Mitch Goldman. You can just feel the excitement building for the 2006 campaign!

Mustache Movie

There’s a mustache documentary called The Glorius Mustache currently taking America by storm! The film examines the resurgence of the under-30 ‘stache by following around 35 guys who grow lip rugs for a month.

A Champion Is Crowned!

Ottawa – Scott Brohman (pictured left) was crowned M4K Ottawa’s 2005 “Sweetest ‘Stache” at a gala event last night. The celebration recognized the accomplishments of 19 grown men who decided to flex their facial follicles to raise money for the Make-a-Wish Foundation, who were presented with a cheque in the amount of $3500. A big thanks goes out to all the growers for their support and a special congratulatory note to “Officer Brohman” for his impeccable performance during the competition. View the photo album and some videos.

We Did It!

Thanks to a very generous donation from the Ottawa Sport and Social Club we’ve just hit our fundraising goal for 2005 of $2000! And we still have a solid 2 weeks of fundraising left before the ‘stache bash finale on Friday, December 16th. A big thanks to all those who have supported us in our quest to grow sweet sweet ‘staches (and of course to all the growers for actually making these sweet sweet ‘staches a reality).

Week 2

We’re into week 2 and we’ve almost raised $300. Still a long way to go to our goal of $2000, but I’m sure once those ‘staches start sprouting to a respectable length the money will start coming in hand over fist (or nose over lip…). To help you growers collect donations we’ve created a downloadable pledge form that you can post in your office, home or local hangout.
